Very Important Message

REC-TEC has changed the way it handles the Help files and other helpful information files in the program starting with Version 20080307.  All of these files have been changed to .PDF formatting and are kept in a subfolder within the RECTEC folder.  Except for using a .PDF reader (Adobe or clone), operationally this should be transparent.

Please insure that the Adobe (.PDF) reader is installed in its default folder, or that you tell REC-TEC program which folder and file you are using for the .PDF reader when setting up the .CFG file for REC-TEC using the "Setup" page.  If this is not configured correctly, the program may be unable to pull up the files, but you should be able to go to the Manual-PDF subfolder and click on the files to open them in your .PDF Reader.  This assumes the Reader is installed correctly on your computer.

This change makes a lot of the current files in the RECTEC folder useless.  They can no longer be accessed by the program without a good deal of effort.

  1. You MUST save any important files located in the RECTEC folder, along with your Sentinel.exe license file  to another temporary location (Sentinel.exe can be saved to your desktop) and then delete the entire RECTEC folder.

  2. Download the latest version of the program with the new Help file scheme.

  3. Unzip the files to create a clean install without any "odd files" that may have crept into the folder over time.

While the files are in .PDF format, they are not protected and can be altered by the user.  Please note that any changes you make will be overwritten the next time the program is upgraded, unless the changed file is saved elsewhere and re-installed over the download.  If you have a worthwhile change, please forward it to us and we will change it in the master download.

If you have any concerns about this matter, please feel free to contact us with your questions or concerns.

If you really want to save all of that old stuff, it will not hurt to leave it and just install the new stuff right on top of the old stuff.  It will run just fine.

Thanks,

George
